Art Nielson

Art was the founder of the Ottawa Nepean Canadians Baseball Club. The he first pulled together played in the Babe Ruth League. Shortly thereafter the "Canadians" morphed into the organization it is today. In his tenure as team manager he coached 3 eventual big leaguers in Dave MacQuarrie, Doug Frobel and Phil Franko. "Without Art Nielsen, there is no Ottawa Nepean Canadians." Outside of Baseball, Nielsen was the past-president of both the Central Canada Hockey League and the Ottawa Sooners football team. Mr. Nielsen passed away in 2014 at 84 and at the time was survived by his wife Dorothy and his 3 children Terry, Ted and Anna-Marie.
